The barrel is stepped in three areas as i have never seen a barrel stepped down like this as you get to the end. I shot some mauser ammo out of it but sometimes you have to fire a round twice in order to get it to fire it doesnt look like the pin is striking the primer as hard as it should. I would like to get to know this gun a bit better and any help is greatly appreciated!

Anyone tell me about the czech mauser in 8x57mm called the VZ24 built by BRNO? Czech VZ24 info. Thus there are three serial numbers. Mauser factory codes and Waffenamt's. If you find your Mauser code here it's the first. Most founded code is four digit serial number.

Jan 29, 2013 So I just bought a Czech vz.24 today, it is in quite good condition. However, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to date these rifles to when they were produced. I know that they stopped being made in 1942, but that's all I know. Jul 01, 2011 Vz/24's which bear the 'D5' type phrase at the end of the serial number, like '2876 B4' are rifles made at Brno. Only 5 cycles of vz.24's wwre made for the Czechoslovak Army. Each cycle had around 260,000 rifles, 10,000 for reach of the 26 letters in the alaphabet.if that is the correct number for the Czech language. New today Czech vz24 bolt #19853 Rifle #yr14275 Thanks.
