Nov 11, 2006  I've downloaded the ASPI checker just to see. None of the said drivers were installed on my XP machine. However; the CD and DVD both work.

It would have been nice if the installation process started with a menu and was more automated. As it was, it unzipped a bunch of files to a folder on my hard drive and I had to locate the folder and figure out what program to use to install the drivers.

At the beginning of this review, I see 12 reviews & 13 votes (1 vote without review). TEN posts rated this ONE star, 2 rated 5 stars. One 5 star rating was from someone who hadn't used the download yet, the other said 'probably will not install correctly' and recommends another solution. HOW does this = 3.5 stars?? Do the math. 20/12 = 1.67 stars! Why publish incorrect ratings? When over 80% of reviewers say it doesn't work and/or causes serious problems, I'd consider another solution.

They are free.

They are from the authority in cd drive management (hell, they are the ones who made Easy CD Creator for Roxio to buy out).

They should/could improve drive performance in Windows.

Cons

Not necessary. Not to say this is a bad thing, but you don't NEED to download them to get things to work in your system.

They probably wont install properly, which is where the program ForceASPI comes in: force_aspi_18.w.interia.pl

They require a reboot :).

I installed this product (on a Windows XP system) to allow unprivileged users to use IsoBuster. This didn't work, so I tried installing version 4.6 using ForceASPI. Now it all works.

Claims it runs on xp, but when i try to run it, it says that 'the file is not suitable for running on MS-DOS and Windows Applacations'. Might try using ForceASPI

And all for free, no adware or similar catches. Download safeip full version. If you've ever tried to view content and got a 'not available in your country' message, for instance, that's probably down to your IP address, and getting another may help. Apart from enhancing your privacy, this may also allow you access to some sites you wouldn't normally be able to reach.

none, i installed on win2k, messed up my comp.

projectxxii's advice on removing Adaptec's ASPI Drivers works. i installed Adaptec's ASPI Drivers on win2k, it totaly messed up my commp. i followed projectxxii's advice on how to remove it, it worked great. i reinstalled ASPI layer from the directions that came with ForceASPI. no problems since, it works great.

This is bad bad bad bad. never use unless you REALLY need it. As all the other reviews said it messes up your computer. Download forceASPI and run, in this order: dumpaspi.bat, killaspi.bat and killdump.bat. If i have this wrong plz write the correct directions in a new review :-)

Step 1: You may try to update the drivers. If you are facing any issues to update the drivers, then try to install the driver setup in compatibility mode.

1. Locate the executable file for the driver installation program.

2. Right-click the file, and then click Properties.

3. In the PackageName Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.

4. Click to select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, click Windows XP (Service Pack 2) in the Run this program in compatibility mode for list, and then 5. click OK.

6. Double-click the executable file to start the installation program.

If the driver is not available in setup file format then can manually update the drivers from device manager

Step 2: Manually install the driver

2. In the Tasks pane, click Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.

3. In Device Manager, locate the device for which you want to install the driver.
